oklv Sports Betting — How to Bet on Cricket and Football
This page explains the full process of betting on cricket, football, and more — covering odds formats, markets, and live betting in plain language.
How sports betting works
The basic idea of sports betting is straightforward: you predict the outcome of a match and place a set amount on that prediction. If the result goes your way, you win according to the odds; if it doesn't, you lose your stake.
oklv's sports betting section covers cricket, football, tennis, badminton, and more. Each event has its own odds, based on team strength, form, and other information. Each bet is part of a "market" — such as match winner, total runs, or handicap.
Before placing a bet, make sure you understand the market, and remember that betting is purely for entertainment — there is no guaranteed path to profit. Read the responsible gaming guidelines to keep your budget in check.
Creating an account on oklv Bet lets you place live and pre-match bets on all major events from cricket to football. The oklv Bet platform is fully accessible on mobile as well.
Popular betting markets and examples
Below is a brief introduction to 6 common markets. Each example uses team A and team B — these are used only for clarity.
Match winner market
The simplest market. In a T20 match, for example, just pick team A or team B. There are no draws in cricket, so there are only two options.
Total runs or goals
This market is about whether the total runs or goals in a match will be more (Over) or less (Under) than a set number. You do not need to pick a side.
Handicap betting
The weaker team is given a virtual advantage to level the contest. For example, if team A has a -1.5 goal handicap, they need to be ahead by at least 2 goals to win the bet.
Multi bet (combining multiple bets)
You can combine the outcomes of multiple matches into one bet. If all selections are correct the return is higher, but if even one is wrong the entire bet is lost.
Top run-scorer / first goal
Markets like who will score the most runs or score the first goal add extra interest during a match. If the outcome doesn't match, the bet is lost.
Betting exchange
Here you bet against other players, not the bookmaker. You can BACK team A to win, or LAY team A if you think they will not win.
How to understand odds formats
Odds are written in three common formats — decimal, fractional, and American. The two examples below make the differences easy to follow.
| Example 1 — Team A to win (stake ৳1,000) | Value |
|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.50 |
| Fractional | 3/2 |
| American | +150 |
| Return if correct | ৳2,500 (profit ৳1,500 + stake ৳1,000) |
| Loss if wrong | ৳1,000 |
| Example 2 — Team B to win (favourite, stake ৳1,000) | Value |
|---|---|
| Decimal | 1.25 |
| Fractional | 1/4 |
| American | -400 |
| Return if correct | ৳1,250 (profit ৳250) |
| American minus means | You need to stake ৳400 to win 100 |
Decimal odds
The simplest format — multiply your stake by the odds to get the total return. This is the most widely used format in Bangladesh and Europe.
Fractional odds
The British method. "3/2" means ৳3 profit for every ৳2 staked — plus your stake back.
American odds
Plus (+) means how much you win on a 100 stake. Minus (-) means how much you need to stake to win 100. Plus is for underdogs, minus is for favourites.
Pre-match vs live betting
Bet before the match
When you bet before the match starts, odds are relatively stable. You have the opportunity to make a decision after finding out the team lineup, pitch, or weather information.
- More time to think before placing a bet
- Most markets are available at the same time
- Well suited for building multi bets
Bet during the match
While the match is in progress, odds change every moment. After a wicket or a goal, odds can shift quickly. This type of market requires focus and the ability to make fast decisions.
- Place bets based on how the match is progressing
- Caution is important as odds change rapidly
- Separate markets during cricket innings or football half-time
Many bettors in Dhaka now prefer live betting because you can place bets while watching how the match is unfolding on the field. Even so, rather than rushing into a live market, it is better to watch a specific phase of play first and then decide.

Good habits and common mistakes
What to do
- Set a fixed budget before each session and stick to it.
- Only bet on markets you understand well — do not spread across all markets at once.
- Higher odds in a multi bet also mean higher risk — start with a small number of selections.
- Treat betting as entertainment, not a source of income.
- Read the terms and conditions before opening an account.
What to avoid
- Do not rush into larger bets to try to recover a lost bet.
- Do not make quick decisions in live betting based on just a few seconds of odds.
- Do not bet on many markets for the same event at the same time — it creates confusion.
- Do not chase high odds only — lower-odds bets can sometimes be safer.
- Do not bet beyond your budget out of emotion after a loss.
